Excel Fitness — Establishment, health and gym at 589 New Park Avenue, West Hartford, Connecticut.

I had signed up for a personal training package here and had not yet used any of the sessions. I unfortunately became chronically ill and am not ever able to do physical exercise again. I called them to let them know I’ve started having major health issues and that I need to cancel my package (I had not paid yet or done a single session) and they said because I signed a paper saying I would pay for 8 sessions or something, I had to do it and there’s no cancelling. So they started sending me letters that I had to pay or I’d be fined and it would go to collections. I called again, and after days of waiting and not being called back, I finally spoke to the manager, who was incredibly condescending and rude and would not even listen to my unfortunate health situation. He kept giving me the “sorry but that’s your problem, not mine” attitude. He explained that even if I never do the sessions I signed up for, I still have to pay for them because I signed the paper and they would ruin my credit if I didnt pay. So I had to pay upwards of $700 for literally nothing to this gym just because I put my signature on a paper and then was extremely unfortunate to start having chronic health issues that prevent me from exercising.
